Perfectly timed to coincide with the start of Comic Con in San Diego, Nixon introduces a first limited edition of two officially licensed Stars Wars watches in anticipation of the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which is due in theaters in December 2015.
The good news is that the watches are not gimmicky looking, which means that they can be worn in everyday situations as well as by the avid fan waiting in line to cop the first movie tickets in December.
Some of the details of the two new watches called Ranger Imperial Pilot Black and Ranger Stormtrooper White are quite fun. The look of the Ranger Stormtrooper White instantly reminds one of Stormtrooper armor with its angular geometry. Turning the quartz watch over, the case back is etched with the famous Stromtrooper quote, “move along.” The black version’s case back displays the Imperial Pilot message “crash and burn.”
On both watches, the Imperial logo from the Star Wars universe is displayed at 12 o’clock on the dial. The crown also bears an Imperial symbol. The design of the hour and minute hands has been inspired by the Imperial Pilot and the Stormtrooper’s helmet ventilation system.
Fans can look forward to the release of four more collections in September 2015: Dark Side: Stormtrooper, Imperial Pilot, Darth Vader, and Boba Fett. Pricing has not yet been announced.
These two limited editions are available for purchase on Nixon’s website and onsite during Comic Con until July 12, 2015. The lifestyle accessory brand has not released specific pricing just yet, but you can expect a price in the neighborhood of $200.
