As The Version reported last night, Apple have announced the world’s first ever live, 24/7 global radio station Beats1.

Beats1 will be free to all, even those who don’t subscribe to Apple Music – a package which also includes unlimited streaming for $9.99 per month.  Apple’s Jimmy Lovine said “Broadcast from 3 cities; not based on algorithms, not based on drum beats. A station that only has one master: music itself.’

Beats1 will broadcast the same sound from London, Los Angeles and New York City.  It will be led by former Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe, broadcasting from L.A. and will include DJs Ebro Darden in New York and Julie Adenuga.

A full schedule is still to be announced, but it will include interviews, specialist shows, and guest DJs.

Beats1 launches June 30th on Apple devices and will be available to listen to via Android etc later in the year.
